We ate, of course. There was a great potluck meal; hot dogs, a lot of great fruit, salads and somebody made some very, very good chicken wings…enough of them to go around. And popsicles after dessert….passed out by the Snapp sisters….enough for most everyone to get the color they wanted. I mean how great is that…
One of the things that I noticed that was really great was that only about 10 people were there who have been here longer than me. I’ve been here five years. I also looked around and to tell you the truth, I was one of top three oldest people there. I’m not saying that you had to be a new person around EPUMC to be there, but it was great to see all those people experiencing community.
You see, one of the things that our staff, our leaders and I think about is how is it that we find ways to engage folks who come to be a part of EPUMC at a deeper level both spiritually and as a part of our community? I believe things like “The Huddle” are the ways in which we most effectively deepen these connections.
The Huddle is Big Enough to Make a Difference, Small Enough to Care at its best. There were enough people there to feel like you were a part of something worth being a part of. And it was at the same time intimate enough to just be yourself. God is blessing our congregation. Thanks to Maggie who had this great idea and the desire to get us to Huddle up.
The Huddle continues through the summer, Wednesdays 6-7:30 p.m. On Wednesday, August 31, we’ll have a celebration of our building projects. Throughout the summer, different Wednesdays have different themes. Check it out on the home page of the website or newsletter or talk to Maggie or me.
Keep the Faith,
Pastor Dan
