Connect Club Connect Club is a group for 3rd and 4th graders.
We meet two Wednesdays each month from 6:30-8:00 PM with our focus being
to connect to each other, the community, God and Christ. We have a lot of
fun and learn cool things along the way about being a faith community
together! Our first meeting for the year will be on Wednesday, September
17, at 6:30 pm. All 3rd and 4th graders are invited
to attend; feel free to bring your friends! See you then! Children’s Offering As of mid-August we had collected almost $300 for UMCOR for Flood
Buckets. Fantastic! Our offering project for September and October will be
for Heifer Project. This connects to our first rotation unit, which is on
Noah’s Ark! See the book in our church library, Faith the Cow,
describing how the Heifer Project got started. "The idea behind Heifer ... is similar to the notion that it's
better to teach a man to fish so he can feed himself than to give him a
fish that will feed him just once. One animal could eventually benefit an
entire community." - Associated Press With all the money donated to help fight famine around the world, with
all the grandiose plans conceived to conquer poverty, sometimes all it
takes to save a child is a goat." - 60 Minutes, CBS News Magazine Program Thank You! We received this letter from our Annual Conference on August 7th, in
response to our Children’s Offering for May and June: We were so pleased to receive your gift of $135.00 for the Love
Offering. The money that you donated will be combined with other gifts
and sent to different places in Minnesota and around the whole world to
help children and their families. Some of the children who will receive help live in Morocco. Families
will receive training in how to grow crops and manage livestock so they
can have food, healthy food to eat and crops to sell. Your donation will also help children in Liberia. Some children never
had a chance to go to school. The money you gave will be spent to help
them learn skills to help them find a job. A job will allow them to buy
food and find a place to live. Thanks to your donation, homeless children in Minneapolis will have
an after-school program at Emma Norton Services. The after-school
program will give them a safe place to learn and play while their
parents are at work. You did a wonderful thing by giving money to help people who are
