If you haven’t had a call yet from the Hospitality Ministry, you soon will! This vital and very busy committee recruits members to be greeters, ushers, acolytes, communion servers, and to serve refreshments between services. They also recruit members to provide and serve food for all funerals and some other occasions. This committee is also responsible for the Wednesday night fellowship dinners. Chairperson Jean Myers purchases the kitchen supplies and keeps the kitchen spic and span! In addition to Jean, other members of the Hospitality Ministry team are: Terri Myers, Vernett Bredow, Peggy Ingber, Mary Rekow-Braun, Dorothy Fifield, Marie Wittenberg, Ruth Simmons and Sherry Harms.

Another committee you might be hearing from is Shared Ministries. This committee recruits new members for all of the ministry teams of the church. They attempt to match the interests and talents of members with the needs of the various committees. Lead by Pastor Mike Miller, this ministry team includes: Janet Kratz, Marilyn Farmer, Newell Nordbye, Cindy McPherson, Marilyn Hemsey, Judy Walstad and Kay Wall. Members of this Ministry Team are elected at the Annual Church Meeting and are asked to serve a 3-year term. Each year three new members are added to replace 3 who have completed serving. This ministry team cannot elect its own members.

The Parish Health Ministry is a group of people from the congregation who, along with the Parish Health Nurse, work at promoting the health of those within our church community. Areas supported by the Parish Health Ministry are: Coordinating workshops for all age groups on related health issues, organizing home, hospital and nursing home visits, prayer support, blood pressure screenings and blood drives, and assisting individuals and families in locating appropriate community resources and services. We appreciate the services this committee provides our church family.

If you get a call from one of these folks asking you to serve on a ministry team for Prairie Church, the answer they are looking for is an enthusiastic “YES”!

It was a wonderful time of fellowship and making new connections with our faith community. The team going to Guatemala thanks you for all of your support! The grand total of earnings was over $8,000.00 dollars. $2500.00 will go to purchase materials for the work that will be done by the team going to Guatemala; the rest will go towards the fund raising line item of our 2003 annual budget.
