YOUTH MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES
High School Handbell Choir:
The High School Handbell Choir (9th through 12th grade students) is open to all high school students. The HS Handbell Choir is the next step for 8th grade Handchime Choir ringers, however, previous ringing experience is not required. The HS Bells meet on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 6:00 to 6:50 pm in the Sanctuary. Don Prestly is the director.
Youth Vocal Choir:
The Vocal Choir (5th through 8th graders) is open to all kids who want to sing! The Vocal Choir meets in September and October and again in January and February and provides music in worship in October and February. The Youth Vocal Choir is directed by Jeannette Parr.
Youth Handchime Choir:
The Handchime Choir (5th through 8th graders) is open to all kids who want to make music and is a good way for them to learn more about music. The Handchime Choir also develops ringing skills so the students can move into the HS Handbell Choir when they reach 9th grade. The Handchime Choir meets in November and December and again in April and May and provides music during worship in December and May. The Handchime Choir is directed by Brenda Starkey.
PLEASE NOTE: The
Youth Vocal Choir and Handchime Choir meet in alternating two-month sessions
from September through May. Rehearsals for both groups are on the 2nd,
3rd and 4th Wednesdays of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm
in Room #7.
Prairie Kids Choir: 4 yrs. –
4th Grade
The Prairie Kids (age 4 through 4th grade) sing and ring in worship about every six weeks. The Prairie Kids meet on Sunday mornings from 10:05 to 10:25 (between services) in Room #7. Chancel Choir: Adults and Senior High YouthWednesdays: 7:00 to 8:30 PM Rehearsals in the Sanctuary (childcare provided for children nursery age thru 4th grade) Director: Don Prestly The Chancel Choir provides music leadership in worship on most Sundays from September through early June and sings once each month in July and August. The choir sings a wide range of musical styles that challenges them and helps them grow both musically and spiritually. The Chancel Choir, with Chamber Orchestra accompaniment, will present "The Shadow of the Cross" (a contemporary Tenebrae Service) by Lloyd Larson on Good Friday, March 21, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
Chancel
Choir rehearsals are Wednesday evenings in the Sanctuary from 7:00 to 8:30pm
(Sept - May). This
new earlier starting and ending time allows choir members with kids that are
part of the Wednesday night youth activities to be finished at the same time.
The Chancel Choir, under the direction of Don Prestly – Director of Music
Ministries, is open to all adults and high school students. Childcare for
children nursery age through 4th grade is available. Please let Don
Prestly know in advance if childcare will be needed.
