Vacation
Bible School ’08
"J.W. and Company"
Our week of Vacation Bible School, JW and Company, was wonderful! We had about 50 children join us for our journey back to the 18th century. Over 40 volunteers helped in various ways from decorating to leading classes, to snacks, to acting, games, music, puppets and more. We were blessed by so many in so many ways. John Wesley became real for us as well as our Methodist heritage. Life in the 18th century was very different from now and we learned a lot. One day we went to the school; another day, to the jail. We learned about spinning yarn and weaving; preparing food, clothing, games, and great songs. The focal point of it all was our story place. We created the settings of the Wesley home, the harbor, and the countryside for John and Susanna Wesley to tell their stories. A huge Bible was also in place, which characters came out of to tell their stories. We learned the message that God and Jesus are with us all the time; to not be afraid, and to share the good news. The decorations are put away, but the memories of our week together will last a lifetime. We hope others will
join us next year! — destination to be determined!
