All Church Lenten Sabbatical This year all church meetings will be cancelled during the season of Lent. Everyone is urged to participate in at least one of the Lenten Sabbatical experiences offered below. Advance notice of participation is appreciated for planning purposes. February 26 (Friday) Meet J. Philip Newell, author and teacher from the Iona Community in Scotland, speaking on Celtic Theology, at Colonial Church of Edina. Specific times not currently available. You will be contacted for the specific time and car pool plans, after signing up. Led by Pastor Mike Miller. February 21, 28, March 7, 14, 21, and 28 (Sundays), 6:30-7:30 p.m. “Finding God in Crises with Job”. Read the play “JB” by Archibald MacLeish and the book “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” for insight on suffering and troubles. Conclude the series with a “Readers Theatre” presentation of “JB”. Led by Linda Evans. February 23, March 2, 16 (Tuesdays), 6 -7:00 p.m. A book study of “Jesus Interrupted” by Bart D. Ehrman . An analysis of the history of the New Testament and the varying views it contains about Jesus, his mission and significance. Led by Tuesday Book Group. March 4 (Thursday), 7-8:30 p.m. “Praying and Journaling the Scriptures”. Personalizing scriptures and making them our prayer. Exploring different ways to approach journaling and making it part of your quiet time. Read through the Bible Plan options. Led by Carol Lohrey. March 9,16, 23 (Tuesdays), 7:00-8:00 p.m. “Uppity Women of the Bible” A DVD series from the “Living The Questions“ series featuring Hebrew Bible professor Dr. Lisa Wolfe, who combines careful scholarship with humor and fresh insights. March 11, 18, 25 (Thursdays) 7:00-8:00 p.m. “The Last Week” by Marcus Borg and John Crossan. Read three chapters a week, meet for discussion. This study, open to all, is also intended to prepare travelers who will see the world re-known “Passion Play” in Oberammergau, Germany this summer. Cost of book is $10. Led by Pastor Mike Miller. March 16, (Tuesday), 7:00-8:30 p.m. “The Gift of a Written Note”. Make beautiful note cards to be a blessing to others. [$5 charge for supplies. Led by Denise Hohrman.] March 21 (Sunday), 2:00-6:00 p.m. “The Dead Sea Scrolls”. These ancient documents will be on display at the Science Museum of Minnesota. Price includes Omni Theatre film on history and background. Meet at the church to see the exhibit and enjoy an early supper together after the viewing. Cost is $28/person (age 60+/$25). Reservation deadline is March 1 to debs@prairiechurch.org or on enclosed reservation list. Led by Ray and Deb Soderholm.

March 28 – Palm/Passion Sunday “Rethink Power” – Pastor Mike Miller Luke 19:28-40, Philippians 2:5-11, Luke 22 (selected verses) Communion Music: Chancel Choir April 1 – Maundy Thursday 6:00 p.m. “Sacred Meal – Family Feast” We gather to remember the last meal Jesus shared with his disciples. Bring a small hand towel from home for the visual part of this gathering in Fellowship Hall. Cost is $4 per person or $12 per family. (A-K bring salad; L-Z bring dessert) April 2 – Good Friday – 7:00 p.m. “Listening at Golgotha” A reflective worship service based on the seven last words of Jesus as recorded in scripture. The worship service will include: choral anthems, hymns, reflective readings and prayers. The cross will be passed among the congregation at the conclusion.
